My cousin at the age of 25 had a vasectomy. He married a woman at the age of 40, she never wanted children either, and they are happy. Each to their own. Marriage isn't just a piece of paper!! It's a vow made in front of God and witnesses. You are vowing to love each other till life ends! That is not just something on paper! God has blessed your union and has accepted your vows. If you are devoted to each other and are raising kids together—why not get married? If it has no more significance than a piece of paper, then why are you so against it??

I don't believe in marriage personally, it does something to people, it changes them. I also think that if you do choose to get married, they should have expiration dates, that way you can either choose to renew your vows you can of you can just walk away. I think that would stop a lot of domestic violence, cheating and just general unhappiness.

People don't get married out of fear. They had bad relationships, or they grew up in broken homes, so they are reluctant to make a relationship official. If your partner ever gets sick or if your partner ever dies. Legally, it will be a battle. You can't make decisions if they have a life-threatening situation. If you have children, the majority of states don't have Father Safe laws (that's if the mother dies). I mean the commitment is already there! They are happily in love and they are committed to only eachother. People don't have to have a big wedding. They can have it simple and just have a judge unite them in his chambers secretly. Only they will ever know they are married. Alan Rickman got married to his long term girlfriend when he found out that he had terminal cancer. He finally felt how important it was to have that official title before he left this world into the next.

I have a cousin who's been 'engaged' forever, and at least one aunt who was over a decade in before they signed the marriage license.
