I’m sad that this sketch decided to make fun of Anne Heche for experiencing a psychotic break. Yes, ‘everyone in the public eye is up for grabs,’ but this felt mean considering the circumstances of her life (which I just read about in detail so that I would knew who she was in the context of the skit). I would hope that acute onset schizophrenia would never be used for jokes, but at the time, there may have been controversy on whether or not the episode was just erratic behavior due to personal drug/alcohol addictions.
Not a lot of people are even mentioning Anne in the comment section here, and so I just want to put forth a RIP Anne Heche and that I hope your sons are carrying on with your love and memory in their hearts. I hope you are at peace now, you worked hard.
If SNL is too PC now to do something as amazing as this again, we need a new show that isn't. The Celebrity Jeopardy sketches always leaves me gasping for air because I'm laughing so hard no matter how many times I watch them.
