David Krauss’s visitor on Talking Soundly is the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham. Coming from an inward-looking pastoral household, she carried out the church choir at 17 and was scarred by the expertise. ‘It sucked,’ she says, ‘they didn’t respect me in any respect… however I had a job to do and understood concord. They weren’t very good to me.’
