Sometimes I wish Will would play the straight man in Hollywood a bit more often. He’s so good at it and his reactions are half the reason this series is/was so good.
These sketches work to a large degree, perhaps the biggest one, thanks to Ferrell. His deadpan delivery, the irritated/disappointed look on his face…he's the perfect straight man here, the celebrities' ridiculousness would not be funny if it wasn't bouncing off of him and he plays the part perfect.
I don't know exactly why, but I always crack up at the line, "Aha my friend! The LETTER two!" It feels like something Jeff Goldblum would legitimately. Also, cheers to David Duchovny's impression. He hasn't made me laugh this much since Twin Peaks.
