Heartstopper has discovered its Michael Holden and Darragh Hand can be portraying the character in Season 3 of the Netflix sequence.
Creator Alice Oseman shares on social media that the character of Michael is likely one of the important characters of her first novel titled Solitaire.
“So I used to be very nervous and excited to start the seek for our Michael,” Oseman shared on Instagram.
The writer of the Heartstopper graphic novels describes Michael as a “quirky, eccentric optimist with a sunshine disposition.” Oseman says it was difficult casting Michael and discovering an actor that channeled the imaginative and prescient she had for the character within the books.
“However then Darragh got here alongside and warmed our hearts, made us all giggle a lot, and completely complimented Jenny Walser’s Tori Spring. I can’t wait so that you can meet Michael in season 3!” she added.
Oseman revealed Solitaire in 1994 and it revolves round Michael and Tori, Charlie’s sister within the Hearstopper sequence of graphic novels. Tori is portrayed by Jenny Walser within the live-action adaptation.
The characters of Nick and Charlie from Heartstopper originated in Solitaire earlier than increasing into their story in Oseman’s 2015 novel Nick and Charlie. Oseman would later focus solely on Nick and Charlie within the Hearstopper sequence of graphic novels that explores their relationship alongside their pals.
