Milwaukee’s Bronze Fonz statue was vandalized Tuesday.
A not-so-happy day should you ask us.
The long-lasting native statue was coated solely in a unknown black substance by an unknown particular person. If Bronze Fonz might, we’re certain he would give the transfer two thumbs down.
Go to Milwaukee, which maintains the statue, mentioned that it’s conscious of the state of affairs and dealing to take away the substance.
The statue has sat on the Riverwalk close to East Wells Avenue because it was unveiled in 2008. It was created by artist Gerald P. Sawyer. The statue pays homage to Arthur Fonzarelli, aka “Fonzie,” performed by Henry Winkler, within the hit present “Joyful Days,” which was set in Fifties and ’60s in Milwaukee and aired from 1974-1984.
The Bronze Fonz acquired a makeover and upkeep in 2022 and was absent from the Riverwalk for 40 days.
