Von Lintel Gallery current their inaugural solo exhibition with Lucia Engstrom. Her sequence Lovers & Dreamers is a research of ethereal landscapes that combine hand embroidered particulars to push the normal boundaries of images. Her lifelong ardour for storytelling is palpable in every body by way of her skillful use of sunshine, coloration, and texture.
The mixture of her Scandinavian heritage, world travels, and an unyielding adoration for the setting instills a definite narrative into Engstrom’s work. Her compositions exceed representational images, weaving a visible diary that tells of her exploration of creative mediums and pure wonders. By delicately embroidering her pictures utilizing natural threads like silk, mohair, and wool, Engstrom transforms these two-dimensional photos into textured masterpieces.
Lovers & Dreamers is a group of light-filled and poetic photos, from messy, wild, and tangled florals to hazy and dreamlike treescapes. Nature is alive, present and thriving past the body of {a photograph}. The needlework provides layers of depth and emotion to every picture, creating artworks that demand to be felt in addition to seen.
